"Mr. Porter, from the Committee on Appropriations, submitted the
following REPORT
The Committee on Appropriations submits the following report in
explanation... [and on page 26 states] While significant advances
have been made, the Committee is concerned that any compliance
directive or new standard may not allow or encourage the use of
other appropriate technologies as they become available. Therefore,
the Committee urges OSHA to ensure that the use of all FDA-approved
devices which reduce the risk of needlestick injury is allowed,
whether or not such safety feature is integrated into the needle
or other sharp medical object..."
